After graduating from Riverdale Collegiate Institute in 1973, I earned a Specialist's Degree in English Literature from Victoria College (University of Toronto) in 1978. My main focus was Literature of the English Renaissance and Modern Literary Theory.
Over the next few years I researched and wrote the history of my home town, Levack, Ontario while working for 2 small publishing houses in Toronto.
In 1979 I became a Salesperson Member of the Toronto Real Estate Board and began selling homes with my father, Laddie Kavluk, a veteran salesman in the industry at that time.
In 1981 I qualified for my Broker's Designation and became the Principal Broker and Owner of Oxford Real Estate Ltd., a position which I held for 24 years.
As an Instructor for the Ontario Real Estate Association, I have taught the Phase 1,2 and 3 Introductory Real Estate Courses as well as Principles of Mortgage Financing at Ryerson, Humber College, and the Ontario Real Estate Association.
In 1994 I attained my Appraisal Designation (MVA) from the Ontario Real Estate Association, later sitting on OREA's review panel for new applicants.
I had the privilege of serving as an elected Director of the Toronto Real Estate Board for five terms, during which time I chaired several key committees:MLS, Education, Ethics Appeals, and By-Laws.
In the Spring of 2005 I joined Bosley Real Estate Ltd.- a world class company, independently owned, and which has recently celebrated its 82nd anniversary in the real estate industry.
